The Newest Addition!

Well, this weekend was very exciting for many reasons, but especially because Stan and I got to meet our family's newest addition, Benjamin! Stan's cousin and his wife welcomed their first born into the world - a beautiful baby boy! Stan and I were able to go visit them in the hospital and it was so wonderful to see this tiny, brand-new little life. We are SO happy for you, J & V - we love you!

Hello Lovely People!

My best friend Krissy is getting married in May and I'm so excited because I get the honor of being one of her bridesmaids - yay! Well, she found out about this really cool organization called Brides Against Breast Cancer and I thought I'd share it with you. They take wedding dress donations and then turn around and sell them at a reduced cost in their resale stores. The money that they make goes towards making the dreams of terminal breast cancer patients come true. I absolutely love the idea of this! I'm planning on donating my dress as soon as I can pick it up from my parents' house in Houston.....I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it, but I think this sounds like a good idea. :)

Blessings everybody!
love,
Stacy

Cookin' up some fun!

Last night I helped Stan cater Joel & Sonya's Wedding, which was a BLAST!! First of all, the bride and groom were the coolest people on earth. All of their guests were so much fun to hang out with! Stan and I agreed that last night was one of the best catering gigs we've ever had. Of course, you know me, I had to bring my camera and take some pics to share with you. Here they are!

Here's Stan's "A-Team" as he calls us (of course, I'm taking the picture, but I'm still part of the A team!) Stan, Chris, and Jason:

This was Jason showing us where the gun show will be held:

We met lots of fun new friends while manning the bar last night. Here's Pamela, who posed for a picture with my business card:

And here's her husband Bryan, again, with my business card (isn't this ridiculous?:))

Pamela and Bryan together, listening to Jason tell a story (he is SUCH a funny guy!)

Here's a cute couple from last night:

The band from last night was SO stinkin' amazing! I had never met them before, but they are the coolest and their sound is awesome! They're called Whitestone and I would highly recommend them!

The fun and beautiful bride Sonya:

Can you believe this groom's cake?! I've never seen anything like it! And they were really good, too. The cake lady is Judith Koon and she's located in Georgetown. If anyone is interested in her info, you can email me because she doesn't have a website, but she's fabulous!

This is an Aggie drinking a beer. Whoop.

Okay, so Jason comes and bar tends for us sometimes and he is absolutely one of the funnies, coolest people you will ever meet. By night, a bartender. By day, a WEATHER MAN!!! Isn't that crazy? Here he is dancing:

This is Barbara and she was a riot:

And last, but definitely not least, my handsome, wonderful Stan. Words cannot express how proud I am to call him my husband. He is smart, funny, SO talented, and gorgeous - I hit the jackpot! We just laugh all day long together....even after 3 1/2 years of marriage. :) He is my soul mate and I love him SO much.

Happy Birthday to Jenny and my new 5D!!!

Yesterday was one of my best friends from Nursing school, Jenny's, Birthday! A few of us from school and a couple others went over to her house for games and regular cake and ice cream cake and lemon cake and plantains, and this great frito salad thingy. It was awesome! It was also my first time to use my brand new camera that came in the mail this week - woo hoo. So, I had lots of fun with pictures and with my buddies. Here ya go!

Me and my pal Kim:

This is one of Jenny and Chris's many pets - isn't he cute?!

We played a game that consisted of asking the group some "would you rather" questions and then trying to guess what the group would say. When you guess correctly, you get a point. Here's Nicole asking us whether we would rather have tons of ticks in our mouth or worms in our bottoms. Gheeze! Worms in the bottom won, but I totally disagree!

Chris and Birthday Girl Jenny

I just liked this

Kim after eating the blue frosting

The cake with the blue frosting

Kim and Doug - who knows?!

Girlies - we coached Doug for like 10 minutes on how to use my camera - I think he did a great job with this pic!

This is the nice cat

This is the one with an attitude

Jenny laughing with Chris

These are the flowers we got for Jenny - aren't they gorgeous. Martha Stewart, I mean, Sonya, put them in this vase with lemons - so cute!

Here's Kim, who's camera is sad because my camera makes him feel teeny.

This is a glamour shot of Kim - this is how she poses for almost every picture she's ever in. Stan calls it her "look-at-me-I'm-bad" pose. :)

What do you do?

This is what's happening at the Cross house today....in case you didn't believe we were "snowed in". :) Buddy was REALLY upset that we felt the need to take this photo op - we would have put his sweater on, but he's so much cuter neekid! :)

Hey friends! Well, as you now know, all of Austin is covered in a sheet of ice and most of us are stranded in our homes (for 2 days now) and it is only getting worse. This is very strange for me because my last day at the American Cancer Society is tomorrow and this is quite an interesting ending for me there. I really honestly hope I can make it there tomorrow to have some closure and say good-bye to all of the many wonderful friends I've made while I've been there. We'll see!

In the mean time, I've gotten TONS of photography stuff done, which is awesome! I'm so thankful for the time I've had to return emails, update some things on the website, and doing things of that nature. :)

I've also committed to getting some reading done for school, which starts on Thursday - yay! I'm so excited to jump right back in with all my Nursing school buddies. They are SO fun.

The past two days have made me think: I wonder what other people do when they're surfing the web. I have my "favorites" - websites I go to when I'm killing time - what are yours?

These are mine (in order of frequency):

1) A very awesome photography forum of my very good photographer friends all over the world!

2) Several of my favorite photographer's websites (for inspiration!):
David Jay
Jessica Claire
Becker
Captivating Studios
Kelly Moore Clark

3) People.com - shameful, I know! :)
4) Spark People
5) You Tube
6) CNN

Please leave a comment and tell me where you go!

The very 1st Wedding I ever shot!

I thought it would be fun to post some pictures from my first experience as a wedding photographer, now over 5 years ago. Kate and Chase were friends of mine from college and they asked me to be their wedding photographer. I did not have enough sense at the time to be scared to death about this - I just jumped right in and enthusiastically agreed! I hope they don't want to kill me now.....I've come a very long way since then. :) Here's some pics from their wedding - these are scanned images from the days of film, so the quality is not as great, but you get the picture!

Cold + Wet = Yuck

For those of you who aren't in the Austin area today - boy is it nasty! It's cold, dark, and very rainy. I'm bummed because I am supposed to go down to San Antonio for a Photography conference called ImagingUSA, but at this rate, it doesn't look like I'll be able to go. I'm still praying!

Just for kicks, here's a really cute picture of Stan and I from his 25th Birthday. He's getting pretty close to his 27th now (such an old man). I think I may be feeling a bit nostalgic today. :)

Bought a new camera 15 minutes ago!!

Yay - a new camera is on it's way....

That will make 2 new cameras in 3 months! :)
Pushing that "complete your order" button is SO scary - especially when you're purchasing professional cameras....but then after that moment is over, it's extremely exciting!

Bridal Extravaganza today!

Well, I went with my deary, Stan, to man (woman?) the booth for Crown Catering at the Bridal Extravaganza. It was so fun! We met tons of sweet, energetic brides and I got to give lots of great wedding advice (which yall know I LOVE to do).

Though I was there to support Stan, I couldn't help but hand out a few cards of my own. ; ) All of my business is word-of-mouth and I love it that way. Before I even meet a bride or groom, they already have a story about me or a reason they called....which gives us an instant connection - and that connection always turns into great pictures!

So, it will be off to the Bridal Extravaganza tomorrow, too, and Stan and I are looking forward to serving a billion more fajitas! :) Right now, he's conked out on the couch in front of the Cowboys game....I cannot decide whether or not to wake him up! He gets upset whenever he's woken up, but he's gonna be upset if he misses the Cowboy's game, too. Decisions, decisions. :)

What a way to begin the new year!

Yesterday I had the priviledge of being the photographer for Mark and Mary's New Years Day wedding and it was wonderful! I could not have asked for a more warm welcome from these two and all of their family and friends. Mark and Mary begin their new life together with the solid foundation of tremendous love for each other and for God, as well as tremendous support from their family and friends! They are so great!
Here's a couple of my favorites from last night and the slideshow should be up soon. :) Enjoy!
