Photographer friends!

Man, it is such a blessing to have these guys! I love getting together with my Photographer friends for the same reason that scrap bookers like getting together. They can be like "Ugh, it makes me so mad when my tape-runner doesn't secure the die cuts to the page, which causes the page protector to not slip on properly!" And everyone else can be like "Yeah, I hate that, too." Same thing with us photographers. And it's both therapeutic and hilarious when we all get together.

Normally we get together for no special reason, but this time we had some very special guests with us, who graciously hosted a lovely dinner for us at the ever fabulous Guerro's on South Congress. Mr. Jason Groupp and Mr. Fred Egan came to town on a model search for their upcoming Revolution (or is it "redemption"? ;)) Workshop that will take place here in Austin next February.

Here's a pic of all of us at Guerro's and I have a couple of questions for you . . .

1) Does anyone know the scientific reason why *I* ALWAYS have insanely more red-eye than everyone else in pictures??? (I have very blue eyes and I've been told before that it might have to do with the lightness?!) If you know the answer, please leave it in the comments!

2) What do you think of my new haircut? Please be honest! Do I look like a boy or just a really really hip girl? :) haha.

3) How darn good lookin' is this group?!

Oh, I almost forgot the free plugs for my girls . . .

In order of appearance: back row - Amy DeYoung (and then Fred and Jason)and Sarah Quiara; front row - me,Courtney Sprague, Kellie Finch, and Jennifer Nichols

Now go hire them to shoot your wedding! :) Haha!

Love
Stacy

Well, I'm no scientist, but the thing that causes red eyes in images where a flash was used is actually the light from the flash hitting the back of your retina and bouncing back to the camera. The blood vessels behind your retina are being lit up brightly, and so that's where the red color comes from. This can be prevented by moving the flash further away from the direct angle of the lens - even by just a few inches.

The reason you get it more than other people is because your pupils are more dilated than other people's, on average, most likely. That's what the pre-flash on some cameras does- it acts to try and make your pupil contract, to reduce the amount of light going into your eye, and therefore coming out.

AND your haircut is super cute. Erin just cut her hair short too - adorable!!!

awesome! well, I knew about the "retina reflex" as we call it in the medical world, but I never knew why I had it more than others - that makes sense! but why are my pupils more open than everyone else? : 0

Well, there are a bunch of reasons for this, the main ones being that maybe you're more anxious than others, or you could have weak photo receptors in your retina which require more light to make more sense of images. There's actually a few other reasons, but I'm sure you don't want me to post those on your blog ;)

Too cute, Stacy! (the post and the haircut) It was great seeing y'all the other night.

I always get the red-eye deal too, and I have light blue eyes. There must be something there...;)

You look fabulous...all of you do. Really wish I could have gone to hang out with you guys. love the haircut...you look great..even with some serious red eye issues.

see, this is why i stopped using tape runner and switched to hermafix. cute 'do. i likey. also.. you have less melanin in your eyes... so that is even more reason for the light to bounce around and reflect.

are you going to imaging?

I read somewhere that light eyes/skin tend absorb moer light (that's why Swedes are blond...b/c they live in a darker place). Could it be that blue eyed peeps soak up more light therefore create more redeye? How's that for a scientific hypothesis? :)

Looks like you are not the only one with red eye... must be the blue. So fun seeing you!! We need to start planning our next get together after the holidays :)

OMG - so sorry about the red eye! :) But - your hair looks fabulous! Looking forward to seeing all of you in February!

It is definitely the size of your pupil from what I have heard. According to my Lasik eye surgeon, I have "unusually large pupils" and therefore have scary alien eyes in every picture taken with a flash while my friends do not have any red eye! So annoying!
